“Surviving the Sleepover” is a new thriller film on Lifetime. It is essentially yet another version of Tina Fey’s “Mean Girls” that follows similar character arcs. But this teen dramedy is filled with bits of a mystery thriller. It follows a girl who moves into a new neighborhood and tries to fit in with her peers in the new school. Like “Mean Girls,” her school also has a group of three girls who make her life miserable. Sloan Mannino plays a character similar to Cady Heron, whereas Jenna Horgan plays a character similar to Regina George. The script follows themes of jealousy, love, and revenge to build a typical Lifetime thriller.

Cameron sees what Melissa did to Hannah. He appreciates how she handled the situation. Meanwhile, Abbie confronts Charlotte about whether Melissa only invited Hannah to embarrass her in front of Cameron. But Charlotte doesn’t bow out of her loyalty to Melissa. Later in the evening, Hannah joins Cameron near the swimming pool. They have a heart-to-heart conversation about their lives. It leads them to kiss each other. Then, they play Never Have I Ever. One of the cheats mentions wanting to make out with their step-brother. Melissa thinks Hannah wrote it. So, she feels embarrassed and gets angry. Once they enter her kitchen, Melissa takes out a knife and confronts others.
The girls go back and forth about their feelings for Cameron. Abbie doesn’t pay heed to Melissa’s overprotectiveness and responds bluntly. So, Melissa stabs her. Instead of calling an ambulance, she locks her and Hannah in their storage room. Then, she tells Charlotte to clean up the mess. Charlotte reveals she wrote the card that made Melissa angry. After hearing that, Melissa chokes her. Meanwhile, Jessica has wine and food with Tracy. She opens up to Tracy about her late husband’s death. They think Hannah is having a good time. Hannah has a heart-to-heart interaction with Abbie.

She tells Jessica to go look for them while she waits in the motel room. Around that time, Hannah escapes Melissa’s house and runs back to the room. Right after, Jessica arrives there, followed by Cameron. He hits Jessica with a baseball bat. Seeing that, Melissa tries to blame him for the murder.
